Solar PV Feasibility Study in Nepal
Site assessment, yield modelling and financial projections that tell you whether a solar PV project is worth building, before you spend money finding out the hard way.
What a feasibility study covers
A solar PV feasibility study answers one question before construction starts: will this project generate the energy, and the return, you're expecting? That means site screening for shading, orientation and available roof or ground area; energy yield modelling in PVsyst to estimate annual generation under real irradiance and loss conditions; and a financial projection that links generation to payback, using Nepal's specific tariff structure.
Nepal's net metering framework sets NEA's consumption tariff meaningfully above the feed-in rate, which changes how a system should be sized and how self-consumption should be prioritised in the design. A feasibility study built on generic assumptions misses that, and the design ends up leaving money on the table.

How I work
I'm a Nepal Engineering Council registered mechanical engineer (licence 12056), working through Quasar Energy Consultants in Lalitpur. Feasibility work usually sits inside a larger engagement — a commercial rooftop portfolio, a lift irrigation programme, or a utility-scale site — where the same assessment method scales from a single site to a multi-site programme without losing rigour at either end.

Feasibility studies and energy yield assessments across a 26-site, 6.76 MWp DC commercial rooftop programme for Bhat Bhateni Supermarket, spanning 14 districts across 6 of Nepal's 7 provinces.

What software do you use for yield modelling?

Do you work on rooftop, ground-mount, or both?
Both. Project work has covered commercial rooftop portfolios and ground-mounted or lift-irrigation systems.
Can a feasibility study include the financial model, or is that a separate step?

Do you work outside Nepal?
Yes. Feasibility work has extended to Bhutan and Bangladesh through the ICIMOD-led HI-CAS lift irrigation project.
